About

Iglooghost, the musical alias of Bristol-based artist Seamus Malliagh, has become a key figurein experimental electronic music. Known for his intricate, genre-defying productions andimmersive visual storytelling, Iglooghost’s work merges hyper-detailed soundscapes withsurreal, magical-realist narratives. His music often serves as an entry point to larger fictionalecosystems filled with cryptic lore, strange entities, and imagined subcultures.

Growing up in the rural isolation of Dorset, Malliagh developed a vivid imagination thatcontinues to fuel his creative output. From crafting elaborate worlds as a child to constructingfully realized multimedia projects as an adult, he has always approached music as part of alarger artistic universe.

His third studio album, Tidal Memory Exo, released in April 2024 on LUCKYME®, reflects thisholistic vision. Written and produced while living in a storm-ravaged UK seaside town, the albumtakes inspiration from both the bleakness of the environment and the fictional narrativesMalliagh layered over it. Drawing on his time squatting in a flooded MOT garage on the Kentcoast, he imagines a world where prehistoric debris washes ashore, spawning rumors of trilobitecivilizations and an underground “tidal scene” of rogue musicians creating mutated genres suchas Foamtek, SporeStyle, Germ_Musik etc.

“The album is about oceanic scum, illegal teletext transmissions, and prehistorictrilobite angels lurking in the sewers,” Malliagh explains. “It’s inspired by the big uglybrown waves smashing into the concrete seafront and the strange local culturebubbling up in that storm-isolated town.

”The album marks a significant evolution in Iglooghost’s sound, combining his signature chaoticbeats and textured electronics with raw, post-punk-inspired vocals—a first for the artist. Theresult is an abrasive yet intricate collection of songs that feel like transmissions from a dystopiancoastal radio station. Tracks pulse with tension, layered with industrial glitches, growling sonics, and aquatic motifs that evoke polluted, primordial waters.

Accompanying the album’s release, Malliagh created exportal.xyz - an interactive online hubthat expands the album’s world. The site includes fictional message boards debating subgenrehierarchies, a junk marketplace for imaginary artifacts, and cryptic scavenger hunts for raretracks. This emphasis on multimedia storytelling underscores Iglooghost’s dedication to creatingexperiences that go beyond traditional music formats.

His live shows for Tidal Memory Exo push these ideas even further, blending theatricalperformance with elaborate set designs. Collaborating with artist Yaz XL, the show involves livemetal detecting, strange eggs, and custom circular screens that display cryptid-inspired visuals, immersing audiences in the album’s fictional world
