Dagmar Zuniga

Sun. 01 Nov.

Dagmar Zuniga is a Nicaraguan-American musician, visual artist, and songwriter whose work blends psychedelic folk, tape experimentation, and atmospheric collage into a deeply personal sonic world. Recorded over five years across New York, Norway, and Georgia on a Tascam 424 cassette recorder, her debut solo album, in filth your mystery is kingdom / far smile peasant in yellow music, introduced a distinctive sound built from layered harmonies, tape textures, hypnotic repetition, and dreamlike guitar and synth arrangements.

Drawn to the physicality and fragility of tape recording since her teenage years, Zuniga creates immersive works that balance intimacy with expansiveness. While her music evokes the ethereal qualities of psychedelic folk, it is equally informed by the darker influences of artists such as Syd Barrett and The Fall. A multidisciplinary artist, she also creates her own artwork, videos, merchandise, and limited-edition recordings, building a fully self-contained creative universe around her music.

Her growing profile has led to a residency on NTS Radio and performances at events including the Rewire Festival. Though her work often explores solitude, memory, and suffering, it ultimately seeks connection, empathy, and shared understanding. Through increasingly collaborative recordings and a deeply intuitive artistic practice, Zuniga crafts music that invites listeners into spaces of reflection, healing, and emotional discovery.
