Antony Szmierek is a Manchester-born poet, songwriter and performer whose distinctive fusion of spoken word, electronic music and sharp observational storytelling has made him one of the UK’s most compelling new voices. A former English teacher, he first gained widespread attention with his Poems To Dance To EP, earning BBC 6 Music’s Artist of the Year accolade in 2023 and drawing comparisons to Mike Skinner, Jarvis Cocker and John Cooper Clarke.
His 2025 debut album, Service Station at the End of the Universe, propelled him onto major stages including Glastonbury, Jools Holland and sold-out headline shows across the UK and Europe. Renowned for emotionally charged, communal live performances, Szmierek has built a devoted following through his ability to turn everyday experiences into deeply resonant songs.
In 2026, he returns with Decoding Birdsong, a richly textured second album inspired by luck, coincidence and personal transformation. Blending house, techno, indie and spoken word influences, and featuring collaborators including Pretty Girl, Los Bitchos and 1-800 GIRLS, the record confirms Antony Szmierek as one of the most original and vital artists in contemporary British music.
